🧂 Ingredients (Makes 4–6 medium bath bombs)
-
1 cup baking soda (sodium bicarbonate)
-
½ cup SPQR Seasonings Citric Acid
-
½ cup cornstarch (optional — makes bombs silky and slower to dissolve)
-
½ cup Epsom salt or fine Himalayan pink salt
-
2½ tablespoons coconut oil (melted) (you can also use almond, jojoba, or olive oil)
-
¾ tablespoon water or witch hazel (in a spray bottle)
-
10–15 drops essential oil (lavender, eucalyptus, or citrus are great options)
-
A few drops of food coloring or mica powder (optional)
🧤 Instructions
-
Mix dry ingredients:
In a large bowl, combine baking soda, citric acid, cornstarch, and salt. Whisk until evenly blended and free of lumps. -
Mix wet ingredients separately:
In a small bowl or jar, combine melted coconut oil, essential oils, and coloring (if using). Stir well. -
Combine carefully:
Slowly drizzle the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, mixing constantly.
Tip: To prevent fizzing prematurely, add slowly and mix quickly with your hands (wear gloves) or a whisk. -
Moisten the mix:
Lightly mist the mixture with water or witch hazel using a spray bottle, one spritz at a time.
Stop when the mixture holds its shape when squeezed (like damp sand) — not too wet! -
Mold the bath bombs:
Pack the mixture firmly into bath bomb molds or silicone molds. Press the two halves together tightly if using round molds. -
Dry and set:
Let them sit in the molds for about 24 hours in a cool, dry area. Once hardened, gently remove and store in an airtight container.
🌼 Optional Additions
-
Dried flower petals or herbs (lavender buds, rose petals, chamomile)
-
Glitter (cosmetic-grade only) for shimmer
-
Clay or oatmeal powder for skin benefits
⚗️ How It Works
The citric acid reacts with baking soda when exposed to water, creating fizzing carbon dioxide bubbles. The oils and salts then dissolve, leaving your skin soft and your bath fragrant.
